Unpacked:
Police investigations suggest Sonam may have conspired to kill Raja Raghuvanshi with her lover’s help, indicating a possible extramarital relationship as a motive. Financial or personal disputes are also being explored, but the full motive will become clearer as the investigation continues.
Sonam traveled from Meghalaya to Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, by unknown means after the incident. She went missing for 17 days before being found at a roadside dhaba, where she requested to make a phone call. Dhaba staff, suspicious of her behavior, alerted the police, leading to her arrest.
Three men have been arrested: one from Uttar Pradesh and two from Indore. Police allege they were contract killers hired by Sonam to murder her husband. One of the accused, Akash Rajput, reportedly worked for Sonam’s brother and is believed to have been involved in the attack itself.
Meghalaya Police are leading the investigation, coordinating with authorities from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. They are interrogating the suspects, tracking down one more accused still at large, and examining possible connections between Sonam, her alleged lover, and the contract killers.
