GST Collections Rise 4.6% to ₹1.96 Lakh Crore in October

India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections reached approximately ₹1.96 lakh crore in October, a 4.6% year-on-year increase. This marks the tenth consecutive month with revenues exceeding ₹1.8 lakh crore. The robust figures, which come despite recent rate rationalisations, are attributed to strong consumer demand during the festive season. For the fiscal year to date (April-October), total GST collections stood at ₹13.89 lakh crore, up 9% from the same period last year, signalling healthy economic activity and improved compliance.
