Ford to Invest ₹3,250 Crore in Chennai Plant for New Engine Production

American automaker Ford has announced a ₹3,250 crore investment in its Chennai manufacturing plant to produce a new generation of engines for export. The company signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government for the project, which is expected to create over 600 direct jobs. Production is slated to begin in 2029 with a planned annual capacity of 2.35 lakh engines. This move marks a significant reinvestment in India's manufacturing sector after Ford ceased domestic vehicle sales in 2021.
