Manipur Tense: Prohibitory Orders in 5 Districts, Internet Cut After Meitei Leader's Arrest
Tensions remain high in Manipur following the arrest of a Meitei outfit Arambai Tenggol leader. Prohibitory orders under BNSS Section 163, banning assembly of five or more people and carrying weapons, are imposed in five Imphal valley districts: Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching. Internet services are suspended. Protests saw torched tyres, clashes with security, a bus set on fire, and gheraoing of Imphal airport. Security is enhanced around Raj Bhavan.
Colombian Presidential Hopeful Miguel Uribe Critically Wounded in Campaign Rally Shooting
Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, a 39-year-old conservative presidential candidate for the 2026 election, was shot and critically wounded during a campaign rally in Bogota's Fontibon neighborhood. Assailants shot him from behind. He is undergoing neurosurgical procedures. A 15-year-old was arrested with a firearm. The attack, condemned internationally, prompted President Petro to cancel a trip. Uribe Turbay's mother was killed in 1991 by Pablo Escobar's cartel.

FPIs Pull Rs 8,749 Crore from Indian Equities in June Amid Global Tensions
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) turned net sellers, withdrawing Rs 8,749 crore from Indian equities in June's first week, contrasting with May's Rs 19,860 crore investment. This outflow, attributed to US-China trade tensions, rising US bond yields, and an Adani Group investigation, brings the 2025 total FPI withdrawal to Rs 1.01 lakh crore. FPIs also pulled Rs 6,709 crore from debt general limit and Rs 5,974 crore from debt voluntary retention.
